The best driving tours aren’t defined by the roads alone. The true measure of a driving tour is not whether everything goes exactly to plan, but rather how the unexpected is handled.
Months before every Club GT tour departs, routes are refined, hotels are visited, restaurants are selected and every detail is carefully considered. Yet even with meticulous planning, touring some of Europe’s greatest driving roads means remaining ready to adapt. A punctured tyre, a guest’s request or an unexpected opportunity can arise at any moment, and how those moments are managed is every bit as important as the route itself.
For our guests, the experience should feel effortless. Behind the scenes, however, that confidence is supported by a dedicated team whose role is to anticipate challenges, solve problems quickly and ensure every day continues exactly as it should.
Our recent Horizons of Portugal tour offered several examples of this philosophy in action. During one of the driving days, a guest’s car suffered a punctured tyre which, on many tours, could have meant a lengthy delay and valuable driving time lost. Instead, while our experienced support team recovered the car and carried out the repair, the guest was escorted back to the hotel and was able to resume driving the next day with a newly fitted tyre. What could have become an inconvenience became little more than another story shared over dinner.
This is precisely why, where possible, a support vehicle travels with every Club GT tour. Carrying specialist equipment and experienced personnel, they provide the reassurance that should anything unexpected arise, a solution is already close at hand.
The same approach was evident later in the tour when another guest expressed an interest in hiring a second car, so their co-driver could also drive. Rather than simply admiring another vehicle from afar, they were able to experience Portugal’s spectacular roads from behind the wheel of their dream supercar which we hired for them that evening upon request. It’s the sort of flexibility that cannot be improvised; it is only possible because every tour is designed with the resources to accommodate moments like these.
Sometimes, however, the best solutions come not from overcoming a problem, but from recognising an opportunity to make an experience even better.
Originally, our private circuit session had been planned for one venue, but when the opportunity arose to move the event to the Monteblanco Circuit in southern Spain, our team quickly reworked the logistics behind the scenes. The result was not simply a change of location but an enhanced experience, with even more time behind the wheel on a fantastic circuit that would go on to become one of the highlights of the entire tour.
None of these moments happen by chance. Every Club GT journey is supported by a dedicated logistics manager and experienced mechanic who travels with the group from start to finish. Before each day’s drive, every car is prepared, cleaned and checked, radios are installed and any maintenance requirements are taken care of before guests even leave the hotel. Throughout the tour, the support team remains close by, quietly ensuring that every detail continues to run exactly as planned while guests focus entirely on the drive ahead.
Ultimately, this level of support is about far more than logistics. It allows our guests to immerse themselves completely in the experience, knowing that every detail is being managed by people who understand both high-performance cars and the expectations that come with travelling at this level.
